District 214 has been approved by the USDA to serve free food for students during remote learning. They are available to any student age 18 and under until Dec. 2020. Meals will include seven breakfasts and lunches for the week. 

The high schools that have stationed pickup sites are Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove, Forest View Educational Center, Hersey, Prospect, Rolling Meadows and Wheeling. There is no ID required and students do not need to be with a parent who is picking up food. Pickup times are from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and food will be available regardless of weather conditions.

 Some meals need to be frozen and some will require refrigeration. This waiver will expire in Jan. 2021, so applicants of the free or reduced lunch program will need to reapply then. Parents of more than one student will be able to pick up food for all of their children at the same pickup site.
