Apple updates MacBook Pro line
Last Thursday, Apple introduced its latest installments in its massively popular MacBook Pro line, making waves across the internet by adding a “touch bar” to the 13” and 15” models. The “touch bar,” a touchscreen strip in place of the function keys, can serve a variety of uses, such as a tool bar for applications like photos or Photoshop or an emoji bank when using iMessages. Apple is also offering a cheaper 13” model sans the touchscreen.
While the new laptops were generally well received, but some news outlets, such as Vox, criticized Apple’s lack of innovations in recent MacBook, pointing out that many of newest MacBook features– Siri and the touchpad to name a couple– are simply repurposed iPhone features.
In other Apple news, the company released a public beta of iOS 10.2, which featured three new wallpapers as well as an overhauled emoji keyboard based on Unicode 9.0.
The abstract wallpapers, which have previously been shown in ads for Apple’s new iPhone 7, feature a liquid blob colored either royal blue, yellow-orange, or magenta over an all black background.
The updated emoji keyboard includes many new emojis including an avocado and a person shrugging. Existing emojis were also revamped.
