“It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946)

In this movie, George Bailey wishes he’d never been born because life seems to be crashing down around his shoulders. His most unusual guardian angel, Clarence, decides to grant him his wish in hopes of showing him what his life has meant. If you like watching feel-good movies then you should watch “It’s A Wonderful Life.”

“Rudolf the Red Nosed-Reindeer” (1964)

This stop motion animation movie shows the classic and wonderful story of Rudolf, the only reindeer with a shiny red nose. If you want to watch “the longest continuously running Christmas TV special,” then you should watch, “Rudolf the Red Nosed-Reindeer.”  

“A Charlie Brown Christmas” (1965)

In this short animated movie, the Peanuts crew comes together to celebrate the holiday. The gang chooses Charlie Brown as the director of the neighborhood Christmas play but the kids don’t listen to him and make fun of him. Linus, his best friend, tries to cheer up Charlie by sharing the true meaning of Christmas. If you like Peanuts and the holidays, then you should watch “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” 

“How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (1966)

This short animated movie shows the amazing story of the Grinch which was originally written by the great author Dr. Seuss in 1957. The Grinch is grumpy and doesn’t like Christmas until he finds out what the meaning of Christmas truly is. With a 100% rating from Rotten Tomatoes, you should watch “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

“Die Hard” (1988)

John McClane, a New York City police officer visits his wife and daughters on Christmas Eve thinking it will be a peaceful holiday. He goes to a party that takes a turn for the worst after a group of terrorists takes over the building and the people in it. John soon realizes that he’s the only one that can save them. Watch “Die Hard” to find out whether or not John can save everyone and if it’s truly a Christmas movie. 

“Home Alone” (1990)

In this movie, an ungrateful 8-year-old kid named Kevin wishes his family never existed and that he was alone. Once his wish comes true, because his family accidentally leaves him behind, he soon realizes he misses them. Two bad guys try to rob his home and Kevin has to protect the house all by himself. If you like slapstick comedy, then you should watch “Home Alone.” 

“The Santa Clause” (1994)

“If something should happen to me, put on my suit; the reindeer will know what to do.” Scott, the divorced father of Charlie, accidentally kills a man in a Santa suit on the night of Christmas Eve and finds those instructions. He gets transported to the North Pole and learns that he has to take Santa’s place before next Christmas. Scott thinks it’s all a dream until it’s almost Christmas again, and he looks in the mirror. If you want to find out whether Scott can become Santa and save Christmas, then watch “The Santa Clause.”

“Miracle on 34th Street” (1994)

A 6-year-old girl named Susan and her mother Dorey doesn’t believe in Santa. When Dorey has to hire a “Santa” at Macy’s, she picks a mysterious man named Kris Kringle who claims to be Santa. When Kris gets in trouble, Dorey, her boyfriend Bryan, and Susan are desperate to save him. To find out whether or not Santa gets saved, you should watch the movie “Miracle on 34th Street.” 

“Elf” (2003) 

“I passed through the seven levels of the Candy Cane forest, through the sea of swirly twirly gumdrops, and then I walked through the Lincoln Tunnel.” In this family-friendly movie, Buddy the elf realizes he isn’t actually an elf. He goes on a mission to find his real dad in the city of New York but gets a little more than he was prepared for. If you like funny holiday movies, you should watch “Elf.”

“The Polar Express” (2004)

This animated movie illustrates the adventurous journey of a young boy based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg. The boy takes a mysterious and fun train ride to the North Pole. The conductor has invited him in hopes of showing him that if you believe, the wondrous things in life will never go away. If you want to find out whether he believes again or not, watch the movie “The Polar Express.”
