Where is Donda?
Kanye West is one of the most polarizing figures in the music industry to date, but his most recent actions could be some of his best work. Ye has slowly rolled out his 10th studio album “Donda” but has had some struggles actually sticking to single dates for his drop. Multiple times we have expected a new Kanye album and have been disappointed to see nothing new in his discography. The worst part of it all is that Kanye has been doing shows across the country; playing snippets and songs of the album. So we’ve heard leaks that have just made his fans more and more restless.
As of August 24th, Ye is set to play at Soldier Field on August 26th. He has already done a show in Atlanta’s Superdome where he has worked on the album there for the past two weeks. His manager has also announced that Ye will “100%” drop the album after the listening party in Chicago. West’s multiple chances to drop the album has frustrated Ye fans including myself. His cryptic tweets and Instagram posts were, at first, fun to try and decrypt; but after that, it got very repetitive with him deleting his posts weekly for a “new perspective”.
With all of the negativity left behind, let’s talk about the album itself. It’s been rumored that Ye went to Hawaii and made this album in the same place his most popular record, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, was recorded. We’ve heard rumbles of different artists like Bon Iver, The Weeknd and more being featured on the project. There are also rumors of the return of the Jay-Z and Kanye duo after a video of the listening party leaked the feature. If this is true, it’s the first time Ye and Hove have connected on a song since 2016. Hove’s verse mentions the work of their only collaboration album, Watch the Throne and mentions the comparison of him and Ye to Moses and Jesus.
With all of these things known, there is no way we will know if Ye will drop the album this Thursday. It’s just a matter of time before he gets bored of all the antics and finally drops his 10th studio album “Donda”.
