The Scholastic Bowl team at Rolling Meadows High School has had a remarkable season, showcasing their intellectual prowess and dedication to academic excellence. Led by their head coach, Gabriel Popovich, the team has demonstrated exceptional knowledge and teamwork throughout the year.
The team comprises a group of talented individuals, including Seniors Daniel Barretto, Landon Bond, Faiz Mohammad, Samir Mohammad, Calvin Duffer, Sam Fowler, Alexandra Kovatevich, Cam Lipton, Henry Bauer, and Nate Walter. Along with Juniors Michael Bauer, Yashwant Chervukuri, Evan Gereborg, Tej Prattipati, Tejasvi Prattipati, and Oscar Zalewski. Together, they have achieved a tie for first place in the MSL East conference with an impressive 9-1 record.
As the regular season draws to a close, the team eagerly anticipates their upcoming Regional competition scheduled for Monday, March 4th. While this may mark the end of their season, the Mustangs are determined to give their best performance and represent Rolling Meadows High School with pride.
Popovich states, “I’ve always loved trivia. I took over the Varsity coaching position four years ago under sad circumstances. The long-time coach, Pat Thorburn passed away early in the year and I stepped in to fill the spot. He was a tremendous teacher and a great coach. I feel very fortunate to have the job.”
The team’s success is a testament to their perseverance, dedication to learning, and collaborative spirit. As they gear up for their Regional competition, the Rolling Meadows High School community rallies behind them, proud of their achievements and wishing them the best of luck in their endeavors.
