Favorite Thanksgiving foods
I am a huge fan of mashed potatoes. They are soft, very easy to eat and delicious. You can eat them in many different ways. You could have gravy on them, corn over them or even just plain. I usually eat them plain or with a little bit of gravy on them to give them more flavor.
- Pumpkin Pie
I know, a dessert. But pumpkin pie with a little bit of whipped cream on top is to die for. I am not the biggest fan of pies in general but the flavor of pumpkin pie is my absolute favorite. So, I would say that pumpkin pie is my favorite Thanksgiving food.
2. Mashed Potatoes
I am a huge fan of mashed potatoes. They are soft, very easy to eat and delicious. You can eat them in many different ways. You could have gravy on them, corn over them or even just plain. I usually eat them plain or with a little bit of gravy on them to give them more flavor.
3. Corn
Corn is possibly my favorite vegetable. It doesn’t matter if it is creamed corn or regular corn, but I always have at least two servings of corn on Thanksgiving. During the summer, my family gets corn on the cob from a farmer in Wisconsin, so we then shave all of the corn off of the cob and freeze it. So then for thanksgiving, we can use the sweet corn for our dinner and let me tell you, it is delicious.
4. Stuffing
I wasn’t a big fan of stuffing until a couple of years ago. My parents usually make stuffing from scratch and add a bunch of herbs in it to make it have a lot of flavors. I don’t know why I never tried stuffing before I did, but I’m really glad I did because the flavor is really good and it ended up being one of my favorite Thanksgiving foods.
5. Turkey
I know, turkey is the main dish and it’s number five on my list. Now don’t get me wrong, I like turkey but it can be a bit dry. I know I can put gravy on it, which I do, but it’s sort of too plain for me. However, I do like a turkey when it’s fresh on thanksgiving, but do not eat it much for leftovers.
6. Rolls
Now rolls are very very good to have with a meal. I love how they are so warm coming out of the oven and then you can put a little bit of butter on top while it melts onto the bread. The only reason rolls are so low on this list is because I am usually too full to eat the roll or I forget to eat it.
7. Cranberry Sauce
I don’t really like cranberries that much but for some reason, I really enjoy cranberry sauce on thanksgiving. Now I don’t know why that is but I have a lot of weird eating habits. It is very sweet and has some fresh cranberries in it, which makes it very enjoyable to taste.
8. Green Bean Casserole
I wouldn’t say that I’m a big fan of green bean casserole, but I don’t hate it. I’m fine with green beans and the overall flavor of the dish but I just don’t like it as much as other dishes. In fact, my favorite part of the dish is the french fried onions that go on top, so I’ll mostly eat those if I have the casserole.
9. Dumplings
My dad loves to make dumplings for thanksgiving every year. But, these are just not very good to me. I’m not a big fan of the flavor of dumplings because they are just a bit too plain for me. I do put gravy on them, but it doesn’t make them much better. Realistically, I only have one or two just to make my dad happy.
10. Sweet Potatoes
Sweet Potatoes, to me, are so gross. My parents are always like “Sweet Potatoes taste like candy.” Yeah, maybe if candy was made of throwup. These are the only food that I actively avoid on Thanksgiving and if somehow they end up on my plate, off they go to the napkin. They have to be one of my least favorite foods of all time. So gross.
