3 Must try Cookie recipes

Since it’s the holiday season, eating sweets and giving presents is one of the most popular things to do. Cookies are a staple when it comes to holiday desserts and is one of the most traditional ways to eat sweets. Here are 3 awesome cookie recipes that might make this holiday a little bit sweeter.

Saltine Toffee Cookie

These cookies are delicious and easy to make, the use of saltines seems a little weird but it works out in the end. The recipe I used is linked here: https://amandascookin.com/saltine-toffee/

The ingredients you will need:

  • 40 saltine crackers
  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 1 cup of packed light brown sugar
  • 12 oz bag of chocolate chips (I used semi-sweet but you can use whatever you like)

I found that these aren’t really a traditional cookie, but they have a buttery sweet crust with caramel and chocolate complimenting the flavors. You can also add whatever toppings you like. I used walnuts, pecans, Christmas sprinkles and butterscotch chips.

Gingerbread Cookies

Gingerbread is one of the classic holiday cookies, it’s got the holiday spices and icing with cute decorations. I used this recipe for the gingerbread cookies: https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/best-gingerbread-cookies/ and for the decorative icing, you can either use royal icing or sugar cookie icing.

The ingredients you will need for the cookies:

  • 10 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup of packed light or dark brown sugar
  • ⅔ cup of unsulphured molasses
  • 1 egg at room temperature
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 3 ½ cups of All-Purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp of ground ginger
  • 1 tbsp of ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp of ground allspice
  • ½ tsp of ground cloves

I’ve made gingerbread cookies for a long time, one might call it a holiday tradition. I found that this recipe by far was the easiest and resulted in one of the most delicious holiday classics. This spiced cookie isn’t dry or lacking flavor, it’s perfectly moist and not overwhelmingly sweet. The perfect classic cookie recipe.

Potato Chip Cookies

Potato chip cookies are one of my family staples, we make these all of the time and they are the perfect texture and flavor if salty and sweet. I used this recipe:https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/214496/my-grandmothers-potato-chip-cookies/

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • 4 sticks of unsalted butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 3 ½ cups of All-Purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups of crushed potato chips

When making these cookies it’s important to finish them off with a generous dusting of powdered sugar. It makes the cookie look and taste great, the salty-sweet flavor of the potato chips and powdered sugar make the perfect combination. These aren’t traditional holiday cookies but I think they are a lot more fun to make and most importantly taste really good with hot cocoa.
