RMHS News briefs for the week of March 22

 

Art Show 

 

The 37th Annual Harper Art show was this year and senior Sophia Baldassano won best in the show for her 2-dimensional oil painting. “She was honored to receive the award and thought it felt surreal.” Vasi Urs-Juffa came in 2nd place and Brenda Perez in 3rd place for their 2-dimensional artwork. Anna Stoyko came in first for her 3-dimensional artwork with Samantha Nelson coming in 2nd place and Maryana Mroz in 3rd place. Many students were chosen for their esteemed artwork and RMHS is very proud of each and every one of them. 

 

Poetry Out Loud

 

Candice Epps was our school-wide Poetry Out Loud winner! She won the Suburban Chicago Regional competition and memorized three poems for the state competition. At the state competition, Candice placed in the top 5 out of all the competitors!

 

Nationals 

 

Morgan Paoli, senior Speech Team Captain won 2nd place in Program Oral Interpretation (POI) at the Northern Illinois District Association (NSDA) speech tournament which qualifies her to compete at the National Competition this summer!

 

RMHS Dance 

 

The RMHS dance team qualified for and competed in the state competition for the first time since 2015. It’s a great accomplishment for them despite the challenges they faced this year regarding COVID and all of its restrictions. 

 

RMHS Basketball 

Senior “Max Christie sets the all-time MSL scoring record…” He has over 2,080 points in his RMHS basketball career and is looking to make that record bigger in his last two games.
