Welcoming D214’s New Superintendent
Dr. Scott Rowe, District 214’s new superintendent, will start work with our district on July 1st. He will be welcomed in as our co-interim superintendents, Dr. Kenneth Arndt and Dr. Lazaro Lopez, step down. Drs. Arndt and Lopez served as the temporary replacement for former D214 Superintendent Dr. David Schuler, who left the district in February to become the executive director of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA). After a search for a new superintendent and Board of Education approval, Dr. Rowe was selected for the position.
The superintendent of D214 should make the district a better, more inclusive place of learning and give students in the district the opportunities they deserve to flourish. Dr. Rowe has the experience to guide D214 toward a bright future for students. Dr. Rowe’s qualifications include working as a teacher and principal for various middle schools and high schools in Illinois over his career, and has been the superintendent of District 158 in Huntley for the past few years.
“I’m incredibly excited and humbled to be selected as the next leader of District 214,” said Dr. Rowe, in an interview linked here.
About his visions for the district, Dr. Rowe stated “I believe the experience of learning is one that should be exciting and extremely engaging.” Rowe plans to connect with D214 students over the next few years so he can foster a community within the district where students have a voice.
