Animal Rights
Did you know that at least one animal is killed every minute? If you do the math, that’s more than 500,000 deaths a year. Animal rights strive to make the public aware of the fact that animals are more sensitive, emotional, and intelligent than people have previously believed. However, it’s critical to understand what the term “animal rights” really means. Animal rights are a set of moralities based on the concept of choice or autonomy for animals. This means animals have the right to live freely without the fear of being hunted down every minute. Now the question arises: how far are humans willing to go to protect these innocent creatures?
“We have to roll up our sleeves and work towards a better, brighter future for these beautiful creatures,” Madeline Painter said, “but I think the problem is though people may wish to help, it’s hard to know how.”
What can high schoolers to help prevent animal cruelty ? Here are some simple but impactful things:
- Using faux fur
- Not supporting brands that harm animals
- Buying from brands that donate to animal shelters and organizations.
- Spreading more awareness
- Organizing fundraisers to raise money for animal shelters.
These are just a few of the ways we can support the animal rights’ movement. RMHS Pacer wishes for your involvement and support to help save these fascinating creatures.
