With almost one-third of the NFL season in the books (sad, I know), you’re probably aware of the direction your team is trending in by now. Either, like me, you’ve been absolutely decimated by injury (looking at you, Keenan Allen, Danny Woodhead, Adrian Peterson and Dez Bryant) or you’re sitting pretty in the standings because of some stellar waiver wire pickups. Hopefully it’s the latter, but I’ve got you covered with some waiver wire pickups regardless.

WR Cameron Meredith, Chicago Bears (Owned in 1.5 percent of leagues)

Two Chicago Bears in as many weeks? What is this madness! Meredith exploded last week, catching a staggering nine receptions for an equally staggering 130 yards and a touchdown, good enough for the eighth best performance among fantasy WRs,. With Kevin White out of the picture for the foreseeable future with an ankle injury, Meredith showed that he was the next man up. Interestingly enough, Meredith seems to have developed a significant rapport with current QB Brian Hoyer, and may warrant a flex play if Jay Cutler isn’t back in action this weekend.

WR Sammy Coates, Pittsburgh Steelers (Owned in 39.8 percent of leagues)

Scoring an astonishing 31 PPR points this past Sunday, Coates exploded for six receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Trust me, it gets crazier. Coates completely dropped two would-be touchdowns, and would have made an already monster game into a legendary one. The best part? Coates hasn’t really been a dud in any game this season, never failing to score less than seven points in any contest. If you have been jealously guarding the number one waiver wire priority and Coates is available, it’s time to spend it. With such a dynamite passing offense, and legitimate weapons under lots of coverage already (Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell), Coates has been finding himself more and more open.

WR Chris Hogan, New England Patriots (Owned in 34.8 percent of leagues)

Tom Brady is back, baby! Brady back into the mix means a lot of things for the Patriots, but for fantasy teams, this makes almost every player semi-legitimate when it comes to scoring big points for your team on game day. Of course, Brady’s favorite targets include WR Julian Edelman and TE Rob Gronkowski, but a third option is completely up for grabs. Enter Chris Hogan, nicknamed 7-11 by former teammate Reggie Bush because of his knack for “always being open”. He had four receptions for an impressive 114 yards Sunday, and could’ve had much more if he hadn’t left the game (although he returned) and the Patriots stopped passing due to a large lead over the lowly Browns. I’m not saying he’s immediately startable, unless you’re hurting incredibly to fill a FLEX spot, but he remains a good stash on the bench.
