For week one, my record was 12-4 for all of my predictions. The Jaguars and Falcons really threw me off as I thought they were going to lose in week one but they ended up winning. This week there are many exciting matchups, especially seeing Joe Burrow playing his first Battle of Ohio against the Browns.

Bengals (0-1) vs Browns (0-1)

After missing a game-winning field goal, the Bengals have once again lost their opening game but it was a close one. Burrow finished the game 23/36 with 193 yards, 1 interception and one rushing touchdown, but I expect him to throw at least a couple touchdowns against this Browns defense who gave up 38 to the Ravens. But I think Baker Mayfield will find both Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. in the endzone multiple times to help them win this game. It won’t be a blowout, but I think the Browns will pull out with a win thanks to their offense despite their poor performance against the Ravens in week one.

Rams (1-0) vs. Eagles (0-1)

Well, the Eagles had an ugly start to the season with a loss to Washington but their injuries played a big part in this. However, the Rams showed up against the Cowboys with huge help from their defense to shut down the Cowboys in the fourth quarter. Because of the injuries to multiple playmakers on the Eagles, I think this will be a definite win for the Rams, who will shut down the Eagles offense but will have a little trouble with the Eagles defense. But until the Eagles have more healthy playmakers on their team, I think we might see more repeat performances of their week one game.

Falcons (0-1) vs. Cowboys (0-1)

The Cowboys started out the new Mike McCarthy era with a loss. They had a lot of weapons but did not use them too well, with Ezekiel Elliot only rushing for 96 yards and Amari Cooper with 81 receiving yards. The Falcons had some offensive issues against the Seahawks with Matt Ryan’s one interception and failing to convert on fourth down on all of their three attempts. The Falcons need to come out strong against the Cowboys for this game and correct their mistakes in order to stay in the game. But, I think the Cowboys will pull away from the Falcons with Elliott and Cooper both having an 100 yard game.

Panthers (0-1) vs. Buccaneers (0-1)

Well, there is a different Tom Brady in Tampa Bay than in New England. Brady threw two interceptions, one being a pick-six. Maybe he does need Belicheck? But it does not help that Mike Evans only caught two passes, one being a fourth-quarter touchdown. The Panthers let running back Josh Jacobs run all over them for 93 yards and 3 touchdowns, more than their own Christian McCaffrey who had 93 yards and 2 touchdowns. Even though Brady didn’t look that good in week one, I think he will excel against a weaker Panthers defense to get back on track and their defense won’t have as hard as a time against the Panthers, so they will stop McCaffrey and their offense to give the Buccaneers their first win of the season.

Jaguars (1-0) vs. Titans (1-0)

Well, no one expected the Jaguars to actually beat the Eagles but they did. Gardner Minshew actually threw for as many touchdowns as he had incompletions during the game, which he is only the fourth quarterback to do so. But they were also playing the Eagles who blew a 17-0 lead. The Titans won a close game against the Broncos, where kicker Stephen Gostkowski had four misses, but redeemed himself with a game-winning field goal. I think this week will be tough for the Jaguars to stop the Titans offense, Derrick Henry will have a big game surpassing 100 rushing yards, so the Titans will have a bit of an easier matchup this week and will come out with a win.

49ers (0-1) vs. Jets (0-1)

The 49ers had a tough matchup with the Cardinals who definitely proved they are a threat in this league. However, the 49ers had some trouble with their own offense by scoring only one touchdown on four red-zone trips and were 2-of-13 on third and fourth downs. The Jets Sam Darnold had some struggles against the Bills defense, so he needs to step up his game because he is going up against a much better defense with the 49ers. I think Darnold will once again struggle with this defense and the 49ers will have more success in the red-zone this week with a hopefully healthy Geroge Kittle and a more dominant running game, getting Raheem Mosert at least close to 100 yards rushing.

Broncos (0-1) vs. Steelers (1-0)

Well, Ben Roethlisberger is back to making an impact in this league. He finished week one with 229 yards and three touchdowns. The Steelers defense showcased why they are considered one of the top defenses in this league with three sacks and two interceptions. The Broncos held their own against the Titans but unfortunately couldn’t get the job done and were partly held back because of head coach Vic Fangio’s terrible time management at the end of the fourth quarter. Quarterback Drew Lock has shown improvements with his one touchdown and 216 passing yards. However, I think the Steelers are going to constantly stop the Broncos while forcing turnovers. But, the Broncos defense will hold their own against the Steelers but they will come out stronger in the end with Roethlisberger finding JuJu Smith-Schuster in the endzone for a couple of touchdowns.

Lions (0-1) vs. Packers (1-0)

Aaron Rodgers definitely has shown everyone that he is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL with four touchdowns while passing for 364 yards. His favorite receiver Davante Adams had a career-high of 14 catches and had 156 yards and two touchdowns. Although for the Lions, their first game looked a bit different as they blew a 17-point fourth-quarter lead to the Bears. For this game, I think the Packers offense will excel and Aaron Rodgers will have multiple touchdowns again and Aaron Jones will have a big game with at least two touchdowns of his own. Although, I don’t think it will be a total blowout because it is a divisional game against the Lions who the Packers have had close games with before. I do think the Packers defense will be more dominant in the second half than they were against the Vikings.

Bills (1-0) vs. Dolphins (0-1)

The Bills had a solid day on Sunday as Josh Allen passed for 312 yards and two touchdowns, who proved he could keep their passing game going while the Jets stopped their running game. The Dolphins however struggled against the Patriots as Ryan Fitzpatrick threw no touchdowns but threw three interceptions. Their defense only had four QB pressures and allowed 216 rushing yards. I think with Fitzpatrick starting again, the Dolphins will continue to struggle on offense which the Bills will take advantage of. The Bills this week will get their running game going while continuing to have success with their passing game too. So, the Bills will start out 2-0 against this weaker Dolphins team.

Vikings (0-1) vs. Colts (0-1)

Well, no one thought that the Colts would lose to the Jaguars but they did. With Phillip Rivers throwing two interceptions, one of them later in the fourth quarter, many people are freaking out and are counting out the Colts. The Vikings also did lose, but they lost to a much better team than the Colts. Kirk Cousins passed for 259 yards and two touchdowns and Adam Thielen had 110 yards for those two touchdowns. But the Vikings did not have much time with the ball as they had about an 18:22 possession time, the lowest time they’ve had since 1977. I think the Vikings will pretty much control this game but I will not count out the Colts as they incorporate Jonathan Taylor more into their running and passing game and I think Rivers will not turn the ball over as much. Though, I think the Vikings will pull out with a win with a big help from their improved defense.

Washington (1-0) vs. Cardinals (1-0)

Washington Football Team was surely not expected to come into week two as 1-0 but surprisingly they did. Their defense was dominant and consistent which helped tear apart the Eagles offense. They held the Eagles to no points in the second half while their offense came out to score 20 points in the last half. The Cardinals held their own against a fierce 49ers defense to show the NFL that they are a legitimate contender. Deandre Hopkins showcased his talent while he had a career-high 14 receptions for 151 yards and Kyler Murray was quick on his feet as he had 91 rushing yards. Although Washington did beat the Eagles, I don’t really see them getting a win against the Cardinals. Dwayne Haskins will not be as successful against this Cardinals defense but their defense will be challenged and will show who they really are against Murray and his team. The Cardinals will continue to have a fast-paced offense which will help them pull out with a win on Sunday.

Ravens (1-0) vs. Texans (0-1)

The Texans had a tough matchup with the Chiefs but could not pull out with a win. Although they did get David Johnson in the trade with Hopkins, they can see that it did not work out as well for them as it did the Cardinals. Their defense was tested against the Chiefs talented offense and was given a big reality check. The Ravens got off to a good start week one with a 38-6 win against the Browns while Lamar Jackson had a great game. The Ravens defense quickly picked up on Baker Mayfield’s mistakes and made a statement for themselves. I think the Ravens will have a tougher time with the Texans defense than they did with the Browns, but I think with a better rushing game and getting Marquise Brown as involved as he was in week one will help the Ravens pull out with a win. I just don’t think the Texans offense can pull it off for their team, but they definitely will stay in the game with the Ravens.

Chiefs (1-0) vs. Chargers (1-0)

The Chargers pulled out with a win against the Bengals with an at best average offense as the only touchdown that was scored was by their rookie running back Joshua Kelley. Their star wide receiver Keenan Allen was held at four receptions for 37 yards and starting running back Austin Ekeler had only 19 carries for 84 yards. The reigning Superbowl champions had shown the league that their offense had just gotten even better than before. Rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire ran the ball for 25 carries for 138 yards and one touchdown. I think the Chiefs will come into this game strong again and will get Sammy Watkins and Travis Kelce the ball a bit more than week one. Tyrod Taylor and the Chargers offense will have more of a struggle against the Chiefs defense though and their defense won’t be able to help them to stop the Chiefs offense much.

Patriots (1-0) vs. Seahawks (1-0)

Both of these teams started off week one strong with a win. Russel Wilson has started presenting his case for MVP as he had 322 yards and four touchdowns. The Seahawks focused more on their passing game, getting D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett both close to a 100-yard game but as a team overall had less than 100 yards rushing. The Patriots might be very happy with their new quarterback Cam Newton as he has more of a dual-threat ability. Newton had 155 passing yards and had 75 rushing yards for two touchdowns. However, the Patriots are going to have a harder game this week than they had against the Dolphins. I think the Seahawks will get their running game going this week but they will have some challenges against the Patriots defense, which Wilson is no stranger to. The Seahawks defense will really test the Patriots offense so they will not look as good as last week with the lack of playmakers on their offense. So, the Seahawks will get the job done while their defense becomes more confident as they play the Patriots.

Saints (1-0) vs. Raiders (1-0)

A lot of people had the Saints losing to the “unstoppable” Buccaneers but the Saints definitely stopped them. Their defense played great getting two interceptions, one was a pick-six, against Brady. However, their offense did have some problems especially with number one wide receiver Michael Thomas suffering a high-ankle sprain. The Raiders Josh Jacobs came out strong week one with 93 yards for three touchdowns and they had their offense moving while Derek Carr passed for 239 total yards. However, the Raiders have a much harder matchup this week against the Saints. I think the Saints will get their offense back on track and use Jared Cook and Alvin Kamara a lot more now. Jacobs and the Raiders offense will struggle more against a dominant Saints defense, which is why the Saints will come out undefeated in week 2.
