Divers going to state

The Rolling Meadows diving team had quite a season. There is so much to be celebrated concerning these swimmers; beginning with the extremely talented diver, junior Caitlin Widawski. Widawski broke the 11-dive record by 28 points, which was previously held for 37 years. Later in the season she did the unheard of and broke her own 11-dive record again at sectionals, qualifying for state in 19th out of 48 people and placing 12th in the state meet. Widawski is an extremely impressive diver who deserves a great amount of recognition from the Rolling Meadows community.

Junior Brooklynn Hextall also deserves tons of recognition for her hard work on the team. Hextall broke another school record, the 6-Dive record, at the same meet as Widawski. Lastly, it is important to mention sophomore diver Kyren Whiting. Whiting broke his own record that he set his freshman year. This record is called the 6-dive. He also broke the 11-dive record at sectionals by 32 points. Overall, the Rolling Meadows diving team had an extremely impressive year. “I’m proud to have such talented and inspired divers,” said coach Thieman. It is extremely easy to make the assumption that the Rolling Meadows community is just as proud of these swimmers.
