The girls bowling team has had a spectacular season so far this year. They have exceeded expectations by placing second in The Mid-Suburban League (MSL) and improving their performance overall. “We’ve had some big achievements… One of the players even got seven strikes in a row!” said senior Bre’shiana Turner, one of the bowling team’s co-captains.
Junior Audrey Greazel, another co-captain of the team this year, said that she was particularly proud of the team after they defeated Prospect High School. “We beat Prospect, and that’s usually something that we don’t do.”
The bowlers have made great improvements as a team and that is what has led them to these great achievements they have made this year. In fact, growing closer as a team is part of the reason that they’ve been so much more successful this season.
“I think we’ve grown a lot closer as a team, and we’ve been able to keep up our energy the whole time so that we don’t fall off,” says Greazel.
Students being united and excited to play has the power to help them improve, but participating in the sport also has the power to change a students high school experience.
“It’s brightened my spirits, because, you know, usually middle school and high school are depressing moments before going off into life and doing all the fun things you want. So it’s bringing that little fun element, and it gives me something to do outside of school when I graduate,” Turner said.
Turner is an excellent example of how being involved in school and being a part of a team can change highschool for an individual.
“I think I’ve met a lot of different people that I wouldn’t have if I didn’t do it, because we all come from a lot of different backgrounds, so I don’t think I would have met some of my good bowling friends,” added Greazel.
Congratulations to the girls bowling team, here’s to a great end to the season!
