Student Council and Rotary Interact Club are hosting their annual Thanksgiving food drive. This event was created to collect items that will go to local food pantries such as Faith Feeds Food Pantry. Faith Feeds is a food donation organization that’s main goal is to provide food for people all over the Northwest Suburbs. With the help from students and staff the donations will help community members and RMHS students during the holiday season.
The goal for this year’s drive will be 1,000 items. Something that will help with that goal will be a school wide competition. All of the food that students give to their 2nd block class will be counted, and the class with the most items will win a breakfast for their entire class.
Angela Kumler, the sponsor for Student Council, explained the importance of donating this year. “It is a great tradition in giving back to our community during the upcoming holiday season. Faith Feeds is the food pantry we support, they service Rolling Meadows and surrounding areas with their on site and mobile food pantry. Every year we work with them, they are more in need than last year so your donation goes directly to helping hundreds of families in need.”
Collection will be held from November 11th through November 15th during either 2nd block classes or in the main office. After everything has been collected at school Faith Feeds will pick everything up Sunday, November 17th, so make sure you drop everything off before then!
