The RMHS Homecoming is an annual, week-long celebration filled with fun events that ends with a dance on Saturday night. This year’s homecoming runs from Oct. 1 to 5. It will feature activities such as food trucks, a pep assembly, and a DJ playing music during all lunches. It will also include the usual yearly traditions, including the after-game fireworks, the Homecoming Dance, and the Royalty Coronation.
This year’s theme is Starry Lights Under City Lights. The dance will take place outside in the stadium so that the students can enjoy the wonderful weather and dance right underneath the starry night.
Student Council Sponsors, Katelyn Walsh and Angela Kumler, who are both in charge of planning out Homecoming, are excited to see all of the students in RHMS get involved, attend the events, and have fun while doing so. “This is our favorite week of the year. We love seeing students getting involved in dress up days and attending all of the events. It brings out the fun in school spirit,” said Walsh.
It is not just the staff members who are looking forward to this event. Students have been waiting for the countdown to end and for the Homecoming week to begin. Students are beginning to rush to buy tickets to the RHMS Homecoming football games. “I love Homecoming. I’m very excited about it, especially about the football games,” said sophomore Briley Nelson.
As this is their first year being at RHMS, the freshmen are also very hyped to be at the school to enjoy the homecoming events and be at the football field. “Yeah, I’m pretty excited about the football games and seeing them live at the RHMS outdoor football stadium,” freshman Jacob Samuels said.
The seniors, who want to spend their last year hanging out with their friends before they go off to college, don’t lack in eager anticipation either. “It’s my last year in this school, so I am excited to hang out with my friends for Homecoming,” senior Samantha Cardenas said.
